Ganesh Utsav 2015

I have lived in Mumbai for 3 years now. And this year I was really excited about the Ganesh Utsav because it almost felt like a day I have celebrated all my life. The excitement in the atmosphere grows everyday was everyone around prepares for the day Ganesh arrives.

There are a lot of smiling faces on the streets. There are some crazy bands and dancing troops who practice and prepare for the arrival. There is a lot of cleaning and cooking of Modak.

I did post about my experience last year in this post. But things have changed a little this time around.

The whole reason for celebrating these festivals is to come together and be good neighbours. But this year there are more people celebrating at home with their own idols. The sense of community is almost lost. This is very sad.
