Indian Luxury :: Bombay Perfumery

I came across Bombay Perfumery the brand in a pop up flea market about a year ago. I had never heard of them before and was mostly fascinated by the packaging. When I smelled the 1020 I knew that it was the one I had to have. While this happened some time end of last year I kept going back to the brand and researching.

I was blessed to receive most of the range for my birthday and I have been obsessed since.

Seven Islands Bombay Perfumery Thingism

Seven Islands

On the site they say that the notes are :

Top: Grapefruit, Orange Blossom

Heart: Jasmine, Peach, Violent, Frankisense

Base: Tonka Bean, Oakmoss, Cedarwood, Vanilia, Musks

To me this is a very fruity sent and it smells fresh. Its a sent I reach for when I have a breakfast date usually. It feels like a morning scent, not very overpowering or offensive.

Moire Bombay Perfumery Thingism

On the site they say that the notes are :

Top: Cardamom, Cassis bud, Neroli

Heart: Tuberose, Jasmine Sambac, Apricot

Base: Sandalwood, Cashmeran, Leather

To me when I researched this sent I was surprised to see all the different notes. All I could smell was the Sandalwood. That was the only smell I could detect. But everytime I wore this sent I got a lot of compliments.

Madhuri Talkies Bombay Perfumery Thingism

Madurai Talkies

Top: Bergamot, Mandarin, Neroli

Heart: Rose, Jasmine, Violet

Base: White Musk, Cedarwood

To me this was a slightly heavy sent. I did not reach for this bottle all that much but after a while I realised that this sent lasts the longest so now for long days I exclusively use Madurai Talkies.

Now for the one that started the whole affair :: 1020

Bombay Perfumery 1020

Top: Bergamot, Lemon, Ginger oil, Red Berry Pepper, Spearmint

Heart: Cyclamen, Jasmin, Palmarosa, Elemi

Base: Cedarwood, Patchouli, Vetiver, Ciste Labdanum, Myrrh, Musk

This was my first purchase and I have not been able to step away from it for a day. I had literally bought the back up while I was halfway through the first bottle. This is one of those scents that makes you feel sophisticated and polised. Its a sent you can wear day or night. It blends very well with other perfumes.

What I found really helpful about the whole experience was that the Bombay Perfumery website has a Sampler set. For 500INR you can order sample sizes and if you choose to order any perfume you can use the promo code (provided with the sampler kit) to reedem the full cost of your sample kit.

While I can’t stop singing praises about the products themselves I have also really enjoyed the whole consumer experience. As someone with a marketing background i know that perfumes are not the easiest category to advertise for. I feel that a lot of thought has gone into the whole brand image. Little details about the packaging, the imagery used, the voice of the brand across all social media is very well though through.

I know for years to come I will have Bombay Perfumery as part of my perfume collection.
